It’s a strange feeling that comes over you from time to time.
Your hair stands on end, your skin prickles, and little goosebumps appear.
This can be especially confusing when it only appears as you think about a certain person.
Why does that happen? Why do you get goosebumps when you think of someone?
What causes goosebumps?
Let’s start at the very beginning with what goosebumps are in the first place.
Goosebumps are caused when your sympathetic nervous system becomes activated.
This system will often become activated when you are scared, but it can also be activated when you are excited or even happy.
Your circulatory system is responsible for bringing nutrients and other substances throughout your body.
When your sympathetic nervous system is activated, your circulatory system is sped up and blood flow to your skin increases.
This causes your skin to become engorged with blood and look red, warm, and slightly swollen.
Goosebumps are caused when blood vessels in your skin are temporarily blocked.
This causes the blood that is already in your skin to pool there, making your skin look like it is covered in goosebumps.
You see, usually, goosebumps happen when you are overwhelmed, scared, cold, or happy. They can be linked to your emotions, but also your outer environment.
If you are cold, your sympathetic nervous system will cause your blood vessels to constrict in order to keep your body’s temperature stable.
When you are exposed to an emotional trigger, your body may react with goosebumps as it would if it was cold.
So why do you get goosebumps when you think of someone? It is likely because of the emotional connection that you have with that person.
You may have a good relationship with them, or perhaps a bad one that has left an impact on you.
Either way, the emotional connection will likely lead to goosebumps when you think about them.
But we’ll get further into that in a second.
What are spiritual chills?
Now: some people believe in the concept of spiritual chills.
Essentially, they believe that goosebumps could be signs of a spiritual message or experience.
This is not a widely accepted view, but it is one that some people have.
If you are one of those people, you may experience goosebumps when you think of someone and believe that they have passed away.
It may be the case that they are trying to communicate with you from the other side.
But it’s not just with people from the other side, some people believe that goosebumps are simply a way for us to pick up on energy around us.
You see, we just explained that goosebumps are tightly linked to our emotions and our nervous system.
So of course, they are also linked to our subconscious.
Now: spiritual chills are often believed to happen when there is an influx of energy around you.
This could be positive energy or a negative one.
Some people believe that goosebumps are a way for us to pick up on this energy and process it the best way we can.
The truth is, there is no solid evidence that goosebumps are related to spiritual experiences or messages.
But if you have ever felt goosebumps in conjunction with a spiritual message, then perhaps it’s true for you.
What determines whether you get goosebumps? Now: there is one thing that determines whether or not you get goosebumps: your emotional state.
What would a gifted advisor say?
The signs in this article will give you an insight into goosebumps when thinking about someone.
Even so, issues related to love and dating can be confusing at the best of times, especially as your situation is unique to you.
So could getting some outside guidance help?
After a really challenging breakup, I found that speaking to an advisor from Psychic Source was super helpful.
The advisor I spoke to was kind, understanding, and genuinely helpful.
My love reading gave me the guidance I was looking for (and needed) during a painful and confusing time.
Not only can a gifted advisor tell you whether your goosebumps mean anything, but they can also reveal all your love possibilities.
Can goosebumps also be completely ordinary?
To be frank, yes. That is the case most of the time, actually.
Your goosebumps are usually quite ordinary, stemming from you feeling cold or seeing a scary movie.
You may also get goosebumps from the release of adrenaline.
There are many other things that can cause you to get goosebumps.
Can you make yourself get goosebumps?
This is a bit of a tricky one, as there are many different ways that this could happen.
You can technically make yourself get goosebumps by thinking about something really scary or gross, or by hearing a chilling or emotional story.
Why do you get goosebumps when you think of someone?
Now that we’ve discussed the reasons for goosebumps in the first place, let’s take a look at why you get goosebumps when you think of someone:
1) This person is your soulmate
The chances are if you get goosebumps when you think of someone, they are your soulmate.
Soulmates are people who are connected to you on a deep spiritual level. In other words, they are people who have been with you throughout many lifetimes.
When you meet the right soulmate, you will have a very strong feeling. It will feel almost like an electric current running between you.
It can be difficult to explain, but when you meet the right person, you will know.
Unfortunately, many people are unable to recognize that feeling.
They may be so caught up in the story of their life that they forget to look for the things that matter most.
If you get goosebumps when you think of someone, it could be a sign of a connection to your soulmate.
Remember when we talked about that influx of energy that can cause spiritual chills? Well, what better influx that the electric connection between you and your soulmate?
So, when you get goosebumps whenever you think of someone, it’s quite possible that this person is your soulmate.
What are other signs of meeting your soulmate?
- You feel drawn to this person
- You feel like you have known them for your entire life
- You feel like you are meant to be with this person
- You feel like you are closer to your soul than ever before
- You feel a strong connection to this person
Meeting your soulmate is a truly fascinating thing, it’s as if you are suddenly more aware of your life and your purpose.
This is because when you meet your soulmate, you will finally be able to feel the energy that connects you to the Universe.
It can be very overwhelming at first, but it’s also a very exciting time in your life. You’ll feel like the Universe has finally opened up and allowed you to see what is really possible for you.
So, if you get goosebumps when thinking about someone, this could be a sign that they are your soulmate.
But how can you know for sure you’ve met your soulmate??
The truth is:
We can waste a lot of time and emotions with people who ultimately we’re not compatible with. Finding your soulmate is no easy task.
But what if there was a way to get absolute confirmation?
I’ve just stumbled upon a way to do this… a professional psychic artist who can draw a sketch of what your soulmate looks like.
Even though I wasn’t convinced at first, my friend convinced me to try it out a few weeks ago.
Now I know exactly what my soulmate looks like. The crazy thing is that I recognized them straight away.
If you’re ready to find out what your soulmate looks like, get your own sketch drawn here.
2) This person is thinking about you, too
Goosebumps can also be a sign that someone is thinking about you.
When you are thinking about someone, your body reacts in the same way that it would if you were nervous or excited.
Your brain sends out a chemical called norepinephrine, which is actually the same chemical that is released during an adrenaline rush.
Since it is essentially the same chemical, it has the same effect on your body. Norepinephrine activates the sympathetic nervous system and increases blood flow to your skin.
It also causes your blood vessels to temporarily block, which causes goosebumps.
Now: if we take a step away from the medical and look at the spiritual – when you think of someone, you are sending them your energy.
More often than not, if that person is receptible to it, they will inevitably think of you, too.
In return, you will pick up on their energy and get goosebumps.
Or sometimes, they are the first ones thinking of you and as you notice it energetically, you simultaneously think of them and get goosebumps.
That’s really interesting and a very powerful experience.
If you are noticing goosebumps, chances are that someone is thinking of you, too.
This can be a very powerful moment in your life and it shows that you both think about one another.
3) You feel drawn to this person
If you feel drawn to this person, it could be because you are both missing a piece of your soul.
You may seem to be from completely different walks of life, or you may have many things in common.
You may have many differences between you, or you may have many similarities.
Turns out you may feel like you have been searching for this person your entire life, or you may feel like you have never met this person before.
When you feel drawn to someone, it’s not uncommon to feel goosebumps when thinking about them.
Feeling drawn to a person can have many different reasons, maybe they are meant to be in your life, or you need them to work through something.
But, it’s important to note that this doesn’t always mean that you need to be with this person.
In some instances, it can mean that you just want to be in their life.
And that’s okay too!
4) This person is your twin flame
Another reason that you get goosebumps when thinking about someone is that they are your twin flame.
A twin flame is someone that you have been searching for your entire life.
Your twin flame is someone who is your other half.
You and this person are meant to be together forever, but you will never be able to really be with this person until you both complete the journey that is your life.
It’s important to note that when you meet this person, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you need to be with them or anything like that.
It may simply mean that they are in your life because they need something from you or vice versa.
Twin flames help each other grow and evolve, and sometimes that’s through a relationship, other times, it’s through a friendship.
The connection with a twin flame is strange, here are some signs you’ve met yours:
- You feel like you’ve known them forever
- You are afraid of the connection with this person
- You are drawn to this person, but you may fear that you will never be able to truly be with them
- You may fear that you will lose them somehow, or that they will push you away
- Your connection to this person runs so deep that you are even able to feel when they are in danger
This person may have caused you pain at some point in your life, but they also have the power to heal you.
You may have been with this person at other times in your life, or you may have met this person recently.
You see, twin flame connections are so intense that it’s no wonder that sometimes, you will get goosebumps when thinking of the other person.
But as you know, when it comes to love, things rarely go as smoothly as we’d like them to.
That’s why I recommend speaking to one of the gifted advisors over at Psychic Source.
I mentioned them earlier.
They’ve been incredibly helpful in the past when I’ve needed guidance on my love life, and they’ll certainly be able to help you with goosebumps and why you get them.
Whether you prefer to chat online, or jump on a call and speak face-to-face, you can get clarity on this situation right now.
5) You are in love with this person
If you are in love with this person, you may feel like you have met your soulmate.
You may feel as though you have finally found the one person who was meant for you.
Turns out you may have been searching for this person your entire life, or you may have just recently met them.
You may feel like your entire life has been leading up to this moment, or you may feel like this is something that just happened naturally.
When loving someone, it may feel like you are meant to be together forever.
Being in love is a strong connection, and so it’s not uncommon to get goosebumps when thinking of the other person.
After all, this can make you emotional.
Is it bad to get goosebumps when you think of someone?
If you get goosebumps when you think of someone and none of the above signs apply, then you can rest assured that it is nothing to worry about.
There are many other reasons that you may get goosebumps when you think of someone.
Sometimes, it is just a sign that you are afraid of this person.
Perhaps this person is someone who has caused you pain in the past, or they may be intimidating to you.
When you are afraid of someone, your sympathetic nervous system is activated.
This will cause your blood vessels to temporarily block, resulting in goosebumps.
You may also get goosebumps when you think of someone who means a lot to you.
Perhaps this person is someone who has helped shape you into who you are today. Perhaps this person has played a key role in your life.
This person may not be the most exciting person in your life, but they are certainly someone who has left their mark.
You may get goosebumps when you think about someone who is currently important to you. This could be someone in your life who you are very close to.
If you get goosebumps when you think about a certain person, it does not necessarily mean that something romantic is going on.
It simply means that this person is important to you or has been important to you in the past.
Most importantly, goosebumps are not a bad sign, they are completely natural and are usually nothing you need to think twice about.
If you get goosebumps when you think about someone, it might be a sign that you feel something special towards them.
It could be a sign that you have met your soulmate, that you have met your twin flame, or that you are in love.
It could be a sign that this person is important to you, or it could be a sign that this person has played a key role in your life.
If you get goosebumps when you think about someone, you should consider why that is.
You don’t want to let a silly misunderstanding keep you from pursuing a relationship with the person you love.
Think about it: You don’t want to miss out on a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity because you were too afraid to act.
But in general, goosebumps when thinking about someone can mean lots of different things, so it’s up to you to find out more.
By now you should have a good idea of goosebumps when thinking about someone. But if you’re still unsure, I recommend getting in touch with a trustworthy advisor.
I mentioned Psychic Source earlier. Based on my own personal experience with them, I know they’re kind and genuinely helpful.
