I bet you’re probably wondering what men really think of them. Are they attractive? Are they a turn-off?
Well, wonder no longer. I have small boobs myself, and I decided to finally work it out with cold hard evidence.
So I’ve scoured the Internet and tracked down every study I could find on small boobs.
Check out my research below:
What 5 scientific studies say about boob size
1) It’s the shape that matters most.
A study published in the academic journal Evolution & Human Behavior found that size actually isn’t as important to a man’s breast preference as once thought.
While size can make somewhat of a difference, the study found that it is the shape that matters the most.
The study found that men find firm breasts most attractive – but have differing opinions on how big they should be.
2) Wealthy and poor men have differing opinions
This study found that poorer men like bigger breasts, while the richer like them smaller.
It’s not clear why, but it’s an interesting correlation.
3) Men have different preferences.
In 2013, a study published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior, researchers presented five computer-generated 3D images of the same woman, each with different breast size.
“Medium” was the most common that men liked, while a quarter chose “large” and the other quarter chose “small”.
You’ve heard the saying, “men are all the same”, but this isn’t the case. According to evolutionary psychology professor, Jason Young, humans evolved largely based on mating preferences – and the more preferences, the better chances of survival.
“As a general evolutionary rule, diversity is important to reduce too much competition for any one goal…Having different men attracted to different breast sizes ‘evens out the playing field’ so that there are more winners; more males meet women with the breast size they desire.”
4) Men who prefer large breasts may not be nice.
Another study found that men who prefer women with large breasts might not be the men you’re looking for.
The study found that “men’s preferences for larger female breasts were significantly associated with a greater tendency to be benevolently sexist, to objectify women, and to be hostile towards women.”
Is being a big boob guy the opposite of a nice guy?
5) Men may prefer other qualities.
A 2009 study in New Zealand conducted an eye-tracking study and found that “variations in breast size had no significant effect on eye-tracking measures,”, including “number of fixations and dwell time.”
The researchers concluded that men consider other qualities as more important to female attractiveness than boob size.
The important takeaway? Men have different types of preferences
You need to realize that every aspect of aesthetic is subjective.
Humans vary in what they find attractive. Some people like short. Others like tall. Some people like fat. Others like skinny. There is a wide range of preferences.
And a lot depends on culture as well. For example, in western culture, people tend to associate tanned skin with attractiveness.
However, in Asia, tanned skinned is associated with the poorer class who work outside, and therefore, it is not seen as attractive.
Why some men find small boobs attractive
If men like different preferences, why do some men like small boobs?
Here are some reasons that might explain why this is the case:
1) Men like a well-proportioned body.
After all, humans have a tendency to ascribe beauty to symmetry. Small boobs make it easier for a woman to have a balanced body.
2) Small boobs are easier to dress up.
Big breasts pose problems for fitting into different dresses and shapes.
3) Some men love the way certain breasts feel in their hand.
If they are able to cup them and it fits nicely in their hand, this can be very appealing.
4) Small breasts could be associated with youthfulness.
In the animal kingdom, it’s natural to seek out partners who are sexually mature but youthful looking. This implies healthiness and fertility.
5) Small boobs are less likely to be saggy.
Most men generally don’t find saggy breasts appealing. Small breasts are less likely to be saggy and more likely to be perky. Men like perky breasts.
6) Thinness has become attractive.
In Western culture, thanks to mainstream media, thinness has become attractive.
This became the case since the 1960s. Small boobs go hand-in-hand with thinness, so, therefore, there’s a preference for skinny, small-boobed women. This is more about culture than biology.
In fact, it’s even been suggested that males who like small-boobed women are more sophisticated, as mentioned above in a study.
In other words, they are not like those lower class citizens who have “big boob fantasies”.
7) Some men don’t like boobs.
And surprisingly, a small majority of men don’t like boobs at all, so, therefore, they may prefer small breasts over large ones that are hard to bypass.

“I was, like, 12 and all the other girls in my grade had huge boobs already — and I was puny. I’m tiny still to this day — I’m a 32A.” –Ariana Grande
“Sometimes [magazines] make them a lot bigger. You kind of think, ‘OK, if you are going to invent the fact that I have big tits anyway, could they at least be perky ones?’ It seems a little unfair to go from nothing to a big droop, so that’s when I get quite unhappy with it.” —Keira Knightley
5) Amanda Seyfried

“Actually, I saw a picture a couple of days ago from when I was 19, and my boobs were way bigger. They were a D, and now they’re a small C, because I lost weight. There was something so beautiful about the size of them. When I look back, I’m like, ‘Why did I always give myself such a hard time?'” —Amanda Seyfried
