Being single in a world that is constantly emphasizing the greatness of relationships can be tough.

But you can be happy as long as you set your mind to it.

Here are some tricks to help you be happy and content as a single person, even when you want a relationship deep down:

Make Time for You

One of the most important ways to be happy as a single person is to make time for yourself.

Being single is about making your own way, so it’s important to remember that you are the most important person in your life.

If you want to get ahead in life and be successful, this means making sure that you take care of yourself.

In other words, don’t overwork yourself or put aside your needs just because you’re single.

Your self-care should come first!

Sometimes, we get so frustrated about being single, that we completely forget to enjoy the perks of this amazing time in our lives!

Think about it: when you are in a relationship, there is always another person you need to take into consideration when planning things.

Usually, you will spend a lot of your free time with them (which is completely normal).

However, now that you are single, you can finally use this chance to spend time with yourself and do all the things you never did in a relationship, like trying out new hobbies and traveling to new places.

If you’re serious about getting ahead in life and being happy on your own, then don’t neglect these important aspects of self-care!

Make new friends

The paradox of being happily single while still wanting a relationship is not an easy one to navigate.

Justin Brown did an amazing job resolving this seemingly tricky paradox in his video “How to be happily single—even when you want a partner”

If you get a chance, I would highly recommend checking it out, it will shed some light on the exact issue you are facing right now!

One of the most daunting aspects of being single is feeling lonely.

But there are still new friends to make and places to explore.

If you’re feeling lonely, try making some new friends or exploring new places.

It will help take your mind off of the fact that you want a relationship.

And if nothing else, it will keep your social life fresh and active so you don’t get bored with being single.

The best part about this is that new friends will also help you to see that a relationship is not the only thing that can fulfill your life.

If you have a strong community of friends, you will know that you have a lot to offer in life.

Being single is not an excuse to stop trying new things and exploring your interests!

And with new friends, you can always try out new things!

Stay active

Exercise is not only good for your physical health, but also for your mental health.

As a single person, you will have more opportunities to go on runs or bike rides when you don’t have anyone else pulling you away from it.

It will make you feel more accomplished and self-sufficient.

But that’s not the only thing I mean when I say stay active.

You see, when you are single, it’s easy to spend a lot of nights at home, watching TV.

But that will probably not make you very happy in the long run.

Try to use your time and go out every once in a while. Stay active in your friend group and simply go to a movie, go out to eat, or go to the gym.

You don’t need to go out all the time, but keeping your life active will take your mind off of being lonely.

It will make you feel more alive and less like a zombie.

Learn something new

Find a new hobby.

Learn to cook.

Take up a new sport.

Explore your city and check out different museums.

When you learn something new, you will rediscover the feeling of passion in your life.

Learning new things can help you fall in love with being single – you get the chance to completely reinvent yourself and find new hobbies!

Dump Your Bad Habits

If you want to be happy single, it’s important to ditch the bad habits that are holding you back.

It’s time to break up with your toxic friends.

These people bring you down and make you feel worse about being single.

Ditch the habit of getting blackout drunk every weekend when you could be working on a project or getting ahead at your goals.

Stop worrying about what others think about your lifestyle and start focusing on yourself for once.

You can also take steps to improve your health by eating better, exercising more, and learning how to manage stress better.

All of these behaviors will contribute to your happiness as a single person.

You see, once you work on eliminating your bad habits, you will notice that being single really isn’t bad at all!

Learn About Yourself

In order to be happy as a single person, you have to know who you are.

What are your strengths? What are your weaknesses? What do you love to do? What brings you joy in life?

If you don’t know the answer to these fundamental questions, then how can you expect yourself to live with that person and make it work?

It’s important for both people in a relationship to understand each other for them to be happy.

That’s why it’s just as important for you as a single person to learn about yourself and what makes you happy.

Now is the time to get to know yourself, so that when you do end up being in a relationship eventually, you will have a solid idea of who you are and who you want in your life.

You see, the stronger your self-awareness is, the less likely you will settle for someone who isn’t right for you.

And the best part?

That means that your next relationship will likely be more successful!

Don’t Dwell on the Past

It’s so easy to dwell on past relationships and wish that they could be ours again while we are single.

But the past is gone, and we can’t change it.

So instead of dwelling on our previous relationship, focus on the future.

If you want to be in a relationship, then go out and meet new people.

Don’t give up hope just because your heart is set on a certain person.

The past relationship didn’t work out for a reason, and once you get to the bottom of why it didn’t work, it will be a lot easier being happily single.

You see, being single is 10000 times better than being in a bad relationship, believe me!

Make yourself happy first

The first step is to make yourself as happy as possible. If you are not a happy person, it will be hard to find someone else to be with you.

This relates back to what I mentioned earlier: the happier you can be yourself, the less likely you will be to settle for someone who doesn’t deserve you.

Find out what makes you happy and then spend time doing those things.

By meeting your own needs, you are showing yourself and the world how to treat you!

Don’t compare yourself to couples

It’s easy to compare yourself to people you see out in the world, especially couples.

But this can be a big mistake because you will never know what is happening behind closed doors.

Just because a person is dating someone, doesn’t mean they are happy.

You don’t want to spend your time feeling bad about yourself and wishing you had something someone else has when maybe that other person is wishing they had what you have!

Be happy with who you are and take care of yourself.

Comparison is truly the thief of joy, the only person you should compare yourself to is who you were yesterday.

Connect with other single people

One of the best ways to be happy as a single person is to connect with other single people.

Even though it might seem strange, connecting with others who are in the same boat can provide you with an active support system that includes people who understand what you’re going through.

Think about it: when you spend all your time with other couples, you will obviously start to feel a bit out of place and like you need to change something about yourself.

However, surrounding yourself with other single people can alleviate this problem.

But that’s not all there is to it: Make sure that you surround yourself with people who are happily single!

You see, when all the friends in your life are complaining 24/7 about wanting a partner, then that will rub off on you.

Find your tribe of people who are thriving in their single life and you will soon learn to fall in love with it, too, believe me!

You got this!

I will say it again – being single is a lot better than being in a bad relationship.

So, whenever you doubt your path, try to have faith that this is the time you get to know yourself so that you can find the person who will be a perfect match for you.

You deserve the world, and being single can be really fun once you embrace it!
