Have you ever had a dream about being in a relationship with someone else?

Maybe it was a special person you really wished you could be with or one whom you would do anything for.

As I’ve found out when researching the topic, there are usually 20 reasons why people dream about being in a relationship with someone else.

1) You are afraid to admit you love him/her

Have you ever found yourself dreaming about being in a relationship with someone you know, even though you don’t really want to?

This is a pretty common occurrence and is normally because you are afraid to admit that you love him/her.

I remember dreaming this once when I liked someone at work, but I was scared to admit I liked them.

So what happened?

Well, I had a dream about spending the night with her .and it actually felt quite a good dream about having that kind of fun with her.

But remember:

You can’t force love, so you need to be careful with this kind of thing.

2) You feel guilty about a past relationship and can’t get over it

This is a common one and it occurs because of the past relationship.

For example, you might have been in a relationship with another person, but then you ended it, and that caused the dream to happen.

Let’s dig a little deeper:

You were with this person and it ended rather badly.

It was bad enough to make you feel guilty about it.

And now you dream about being in a relationship with another person and they are the exact opposite of your ex-partner.

The same could happen if you have cheated on someone and can’t get over it—in fact, it might even be worse than cheating…because this is a feeling of guilt that can’t go away.

3) Your current partner just doesn’t appreciate you as they should

This is another common one and again, it has to do with the relationship itself, not your love for them.

Maybe you have been in a relationship with someone for a while, but they just can’t appreciate you as they should.

For example, maybe they are tired of their job and will be getting fired soon.

Or maybe their mother has died, causing them to feel like they don’t want to even bother with the relationship anymore.

They just seem too negative about the whole thing.

It’s when this happens that you feel like you need to be with someone else, and the dream is your way of dealing with that.

In short:

When you can’t help but feel like your partner doesn’t appreciate you, it is normal to dream about someone else.

4) A gifted advisor told you to be with someone else

Sometimes, if you have a very gifted advisor in your life, they might tell you that you should be with another person—in fact, they might even help promote it to the point where the dream happens.

Keep in mind:

Issues related to love and dating can be confusing at the best of times, especially as your situation is unique to you.

So could getting some outside guidance help?

It’s fair to say there are plenty of frauds out there, who are just waiting to take advantage when we’re at our most vulnerable.

But after a really challenging breakup and dreaming about being in a relationship with someone else, I found that speaking to an advisor from Psychic Source was super helpful.

The advisor I spoke to was kind, understanding, and insightful.

My love reading gave me the guidance I was looking for during a painful and confusing time.

5) You feel lonely and lack intimacy in your relationship

This happens for a couple of reasons, either because you’re single or because your relationship is a bit too demanding and you aren’t getting enough quality time alone together.

Either way, it’s because you feel lonely and lack intimacy with your partner.

For me, having a dream like this came after being single for several months and having no one special in my life.

So let’s take a closer look:

It’s common to dream about someone else if you feel lonely, because they will seem to offer the intimacy that you lack.

But the problem is:

This usually turns out to be a kind of false intimacy (very similar to when we fall in love with someone else in real life), which isn’t very good for your emotional well-being.

6) You are subconsciously searching for the right person

It’s normal for our subconscious to wander about and get in the way of our goals.

Well, when it does this with love, we might just start dreaming about being with someone else…and we might even start liking them.

It’s weird, but it happens all the time:

You can be out enjoying yourself or with friends when someone walks by and you just seem to fall in love with them—without ever talking to them.

The funny thing is:

It almost always happens with the person you have a dream about.

So what’s happening here?

Well, your subconscious is trying to tell you that this is the person for you.

You need to listen!

But at the same time, I also believe it helps to go out and talk to other people, because that way your subconscious gets to know what you want in a partner.

7) Your ex-partner looks happy with his new partner and it makes you jealous

This is another common one and it can be very emotionally painful.

For example, you and your partner break up and after a few months, you see them with their new partner

You find out they are happy with their new partner, maybe even happier than they were with you…and it makes you pretty jealous.

So what’s the problem?

Well, on an emotional level, we often feel like our ex-partner should be miserable without us, but this isn’t always the case.

In fact, some people might be really happy without you.

This is why it is common for this type of dream to happen.

And not only does it hurt on an emotional level, but it can even keep you from moving on, which isn’t good…so you should try to avoid it.

8) You are trying to move on from a failed relationship

Here’s the truth:

You can’t move on from a failed relationship if you don’t let go of the past.

So what happens if you can’t let go of the past?

Well, it’s more than likely that your subconscious will come up with a way to make this happen.

For instance, if your partner was unfaithful during the relationship, there is a very good chance that you will dream about someone else—this is a way for your subconscious to help you move on.

So take the next step:

Once you have realized you are dreaming about someone else, take the time to reflect on your relationship, because it might give you some insight.

If the dream is related to your ex-partner, maybe it’s time to accept they were not who you were looking for in a partner.

9) You are craving physical closeness

Physical closeness is something we all crave, but when it comes to love and dating…it doesn’t always happen.

Maybe you feel like you need more physical affection and attention from your partner, and the only way to get it is by dreaming about someone else.

So what’s happening here?

Well, in one way or another, you are probably feeling a little rejected by your partner.

This is similar to what happens in real life when someone tries to move on but still feels a little unsatisfied.

The solution is simple:

Don’t wait for them to do something—make them realize it in your dream and tell them you need some physical closeness.

10) It’s a message from God/Spirit suggesting that there is a better match for you out there

We have all heard the saying:

“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!”

And this is something I think we should stick to when it comes to our love life.

But, sometimes there are things that are out of our control and this might be one of them. And in some cases, God/Spirit sends us a message.

That’s why I recommend speaking to one of the trusted, gifted advisors over at Psychic Source

I mentioned them earlier.

They’ve been incredibly helpful in the past when I’ve needed guidance on my love life, and they’ll certainly be able to help you with this type of dream if you feel the need to listen.

11) You still have feelings for this person

In your previous relationship, you were emotionally involved with someone else besides your partner and it might still be the case.

For example, you might still have feelings for this person even though you are in a new relationship.

This is one of the reasons why you might be dreaming about him or her because neither of them will feel good about the situation.

The solution:

One way or another, you need to get closure on this relationship or stop seeing this person altogether.

It’s hard to move on when there is that little bit of mystery lingering in the back of your mind.

12) You are scared of commitment

Another reason for dreaming about someone else is because you are afraid of commitment.

You might be in a relationship with someone, but you are not 100% sure it’s the right person for you.

So, your subconscious might send you some dreams about someone else to get your attention.

For example, maybe you have been seeing someone for a year but suddenly realize that this person isn’t what you want in a partner.

This can trigger lots of questions regarding your commitment and whether or not this is the right person for you.

So what does it mean?

Well, if that is the case and there is something more to your relationship than meets the eye, then dreams about someone else in this situation can sometimes help us see our true feelings regarding love and relationships.

13) You have a “twin flame” connection with that person

This is probably one of the most intense, emotional, and mystical reasons behind dreaming about someone else.

In case you don’t know what twin flames are, they are said to be two souls that were meant to meet each other on Earth and share an incredible connection.

This person is also said to be your soul mate or “the one” in some cases.

Want to know the best part?

It is said that you are not the only one dreaming about them…they might also be dreaming about you too.

So what happens when someone “dreams about someone else” if they have a twin flame connection

Well, it’s hard to say exactly because this phenomenon is rarely talked about. In fact, many people don’t even believe it exists at all.

That being said, if you think you might have a twin flame connection with someone and are dreaming about them, take it as a sign that there really is something special going on between the two of you.

14) There is an unexpressed conflict between you and that person

Sometimes dreams about someone else can be a sign that there is something unresolved conflict between you and that person.

For example, you may have been mad at your ex-partner while you were still in the relationship.

And now that it’s over, the only way to deal with this unresolved conflict is through dreams.

So why does this happen?

This is because the subconscious mind cannot deal with conflict in a conscious way.

It can only deal with conflict in a subconscious way and that means it needs to dream about something else to help you move on.

Again, the solution:

The best way of dealing with an unexpressed conflict between you and your ex-partner is to talk about it.

Otherwise, you might continue seeing it in your dreams until you actually do confront each other.

15) Your family is trying to push you toward another person

Your family can be the ones pushing you toward another person.

This is a common occurrence in the world today because of the increasing divorce rate.

Many parents don’t want their kids to go through the emotional trauma that they just went through as a result of a broken relationship.

In some cases, they might decide to push their children toward someone else even if they are not single or interested.

To them this is compassion, but for you—it’s annoying! And that’s why you are dreaming about someone else.

Go solve it:

If you are seeing someone else in your dreams because of this, then I recommend having a little talk with your family.

Tell them how you feel and ask them what they want for you.

Then it is up to the two of you to decide whether or not there is someone else out there for you.

16) You want to be sure it’s really over between the two of you

Think about this for a moment:

Sometimes you have a dream about someone else because you are not yet sure it is really over between the two of you.

For example, you might be seeing your ex-partner in your dreams because you miss them or still have feelings for them.

Even if you are in a new relationship and want to forget about the past, your subconscious mind won’t let go that easily.

How to handle it:

The best way of dealing with this is by having a talk with him or her about your feelings.

However, if it’s too late for that and you still see that person in your dreams, try doing some emotional work on yourself instead.

That will help you heal faster and get over those old feelings.

17) It allows you to experience your heart’s desire for love again

Dreams about someone else can also be a sign that you want to experience love again after being in a relationship that did not turn out how you expected.

Maybe your current partner does not understand your emotional needs.

Or there was always conflict with them, which led to you wanting to be single again.

Something might have happened in the past that triggered all these emotions, and now your subconscious mind is looking for someone new and better to satisfy these urges.

Let’s recap:

If you have experienced something similar to this then always remember that love is not about your partner meeting all your needs.

Love is about being with someone who has their own unique set of needs and chooses to spend time with you because of them. That’s real love, and you will find it when the time is right.

18) You have an unhealthy obsession with this person

Dreams about someone else can also appear if you have unhealthy thoughts and feelings about someone.

Let’s take an example:

Your relationship with your partner is not going well.

You argue often and feel like ending it but don’t know how to deal with the situation.

For some reason, you start thinking about someone else after a long time (e.g., ex-partner).

You become intrigued by this person again and start developing feelings for them starting from a distance.

Sometimes these feelings lead to dreams about someone else.

This is clearly an obsession, which could probably ruin your current relationship as well as any other future ones.

So keep in mind that if you start having these kinds of thoughts then it is best to distance yourself from that person and focus on your life with your current partner.

19) You are dealing with a lot of emotional pain

Dreams about someone else can appear when you are feeling a lot of emotional pain.

It can have big effects on your mental health, and you may start seeing things that are not present in real life.

Here is an example:

You are in a long-term relationship that’s not going well.

The relationship is constantly bringing you down and has you stressed out.

And all of your friends have left you alone, because they realize the situation with your partner is not healthy for you.

You also blame everyone around and start seeing things that are not really there in your life (e.g., ex-partner).

This is emotional pain, which can trigger these kinds of dreams about someone else as a way to cope with it.

The best remedy is to seek professional help and find a way to get out of this relationship.

20) You are being stalked

Dreams about someone else can also be a sign that you are being stalked.

There is a possibility that you have seen this person somewhere before (e.g., at work, at the mall, on the street).

You might have noticed them staring at you before, which has now led to this dream about someone else.

This stalker might have even contacted or approached you at some point in your life, which is now triggering these dreams.

They could be obsessed with you and want to meet you in real life because they think they have a chance with you.

So be careful! This is a serious matter and needs to be taken seriously because it can make you feel very vulnerable.

Final thoughts!

By using these simple strategies, you can solve your dreams about someone else and put an end to these disturbing dream scenarios.
